The resolution took into account the efforts of Rahul Gandhi and that the one-year Lok Sabha Election campaign against Narendra Modi led BJP was done with extreme vigour. According to the resolution, if there was a point of time when it was generally believed Mr.Modi wouldn’t be able to return to power, it was because of the political acumen of Rahul.

At a time when the Congress party has taken a hit and the leadership of the party questioned, Rahul Gandhi’s appeal for resignation has sparked unrest within the INC alliance.  With Rajinikanth, M.K Stalin, Shashi Tharoor and many others backing Rahul Gandhi, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee passed a resolution today pleading the Congress president to re-consider the decision and refrain from stepping down as the party President.

Top Leaders like TNCC president K.S. Alagiri, AICC secretaries Sanjay Dutt, Dr. Sirivella Prasad, K.R. Ramasamy presided over the meeting which was held near the statue of Perunthailavar K. Kamaraj at Teynampet in Chennai. Newly elected MPs and MLAs were also present at the meet.

The resolution took into account the efforts of Rahul Gandhi and hailed the vigorous one-year long Lok Sabha Election campaign against Narendra Modi led BJP. The resolution claims if there was a point of time when it was generally believed Mr.Modi wouldn’t be able to return to power, it was because of the political acumen of Rahul.

The resolution also criticised Congress workers for the lack of enthusiasm and dedication Rahul had for the party and the result would have been different if the cadre was in tune with him. It also went on to hail the leadership of Nehru Family and asserted their stakes to the Congress party.

The TNCC claimed that the dismal performance by the party was just a slip up and no electoral setback can be imposed on Rahul Gandhi and that the party should be prepared for the tough times ahead.
