Despite losing all its deposits in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections in Tamil Nadu, Kamal Haasan’s newly formed party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) is upbeat about the vote share their candidates have secured in urban and semi-urban areas. The party leadership has now asked all their candidates to kick off work of their 2021 Assembly polls by starting a door-to-door campaign.

According to Sources, MNM Vice President Dr. Mahendran who got over a lakh votes from Coimbatore constituency was encouraged by the results. “We have asked the candidates and party workers to get back to each constituency and thank the voters. We will also start door-to-door campaigns immediately.” he said.

“Our Assessment of the election results is that this was an anti-Modi wave and not a pro-DMK vote, the sentiment of many voters was that this was an election to pick the PM and they would vote for us for the State Assembly elections.” Mahendran added.

Having placed third in many DMK strongholds and gaining good vote share against stalwarts like T.R Baalu in Sri Perumbadur, the party which was launched almost a year ago has had a massive effect in the state of Tamil Nadu and looks to continue the momentum.
